Stein Club Hails Vorndran Appointment to Police Board

Washington, DC - The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club (Stein Club), the largest GLBT political organization in the District, today hailed the appointment of Kurt Vorndran as Chair of the DC Police Complaints Board. Mayor Anthony Williams appointed Kurt Vorndran, a former president and active member of the Stein Club, as Chair of the DC Police Complaints Board after unanimous confirmation by the Council of the District of Columbia.

Stein Club Applauds LGBT Affairs Bill Signing

Washington, DC - The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club (Stein Club), the largest GLBT political organization in the District, today applauded the signing by Mayor Anthony Williams of the legislation to establish the Office of GLBT Affairs, originally introduced by Councilmember Jim Graham. Mayor Williams singed the legislation on Monday, January 30, making the Office of GLBT Affairs a permanent cabinet-level office within the Executive Office of the Mayor.

Stein Club Applauds Passage of LGBT Affairs Bill

Washington, DC - The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club (Stein Club), the largest GLBT political organization in the District, today applauded the Council of the District of Columbia's (City Council) final passage of legislation to establish the Office of GLBT Affairs, originally introduced by Councilmember Jim Graham. The legislation, which establishes a permanent Office of GLBT Affairs within the Executive Office of the Mayor, institutionalizes GLBT community participation in public policy development that impacts the well being of the overall GLBT community.

Stein Club Disappointed by Tabling of LGBT Office

Washington, DC - The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club (Stein Club), the largest GLBT political organization in the District, is deeply disappointed by the City Council's decision to table the Office of
GLBT Affairs Act of 2005 during its November 1, 2005 legislative session. This bill, which was introduced by Councilmember Jim Graham, would have established a permanent office for GLBT affairs within the Government of the District of Columbia and strengthened internal GLBT representation and advocacy.

Councilmember Cantania Joins Stein Club to Turn Out the Vote

Washington, DC -- David Meadows, President of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club met with newly registered Independent party member, DC Councilmember David Catania on Saturday, September 30th. The Councilmember agreed to join the Stein Club’s efforts to help swing the state of Pennsylvania into the Blue for Kerry/Edwards in the upcoming Nov. 2nd Presidential election.
