President called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.
President’s Report
President welcomed members and special guests. He began his report by mentioning that the Stein Club had a highly successful mayoral candidates forum on May 8, 2006 at the Equality Forum of the Human Rights Campaign. There were more than 300 people in attendance, and all candidates participated in the debate. He then read the agenda for tonight’s meeting and indicated that most of the agenda will be dedicated to the mayoral endorsement. He then proceeded to explain the rules of the day and began the endorsement process.
Mayoral Endorsement
The Stein Club held the mayoral endorsement meeting moderated by the Stein Club President. All candidates were given the opportunity to address the membership. After the candidates spoke, Stein Club members spoke on behalf of candidates, then the Club proceeded with the voting.
There were two votes.
Results of first vote: 177 total votes
Michael Brown – 13 votes – 7%
Linda Cropp - 103 votes – 58%
Adrian Fenty - 39 votes – 22%
Marie Johns - 20 votes – 11%
Artee Milligan – 0 votes – 0%
Vincent Orange – 0 votes – 0%
No Endorsement – 2 votes – 1%
The Stein Club held a run-off vote with the top two candidates. 171 total votes. The results were:
Linda Cropp 106 – 62%
Adrian Fenty 41 votes – 24%
No Endorsement – 24 votes – 14%
The final result of the mayoral endorsement meeting was the official endorsement of Linda Cropp by the Stein Club.
