Stein Club Hails Vorndran Appointment to Police Board

Washington, DC - The Gertrude Stein Democratic Club (Stein Club), the largest GLBT political organization in the District, today hailed the appointment of Kurt Vorndran as Chair of the DC Police Complaints Board. Mayor Anthony Williams appointed Kurt Vorndran, a former president and active member of the Stein Club, as Chair of the DC Police Complaints Board after unanimous confirmation by the Council of the District of Columbia.
"The appointment of Kurt Vorndran as Chair of the DC Police Complaints Board is good news for our community and for our city," said Mario Acosta-Velez, Stein Club's President. "Given Kurt Vorndran's long-term commitment to advance human rights causes in the District, I have no doubt that he will ensure the Board continues to be responsive to public safety issues important to the GLBT and other communities," continued Acosta-Velez.
"On behalf of the Stein Club, I want to congratulate Kurt Vorndran and commend Mayor Williams for selecting a member of the GLBT community to serve in such an important leadership role within the District's Government," concluded Acosta-Velez.
The Stein Club supported the establishment of this office.
