Minutes of September 9, 2004 Meeting

Call to Order

President David Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.

President's Report

President Meadows welcomed meeting attendees and special guests. He reported on his attendance to the Stonewall Democrats convention and the DNC convention. He also highlighted the participation of the DC delegation, which included several LGBT members. In particular, he highlighted Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton speech. As part of the Stonewall Democrats report, he mentioned that the NSD is working on a student network to connect campuses with the campaign.

Phil Pannell mentioned that he attended the NSD convention and highlighted the fact that the NSD acknowledged that the Stein Club attained formal representation at the DC Democratic State Committee.

President Meadows talked about the Stein efforts to organize bus trips to PA to GOTV and promote the Kerry campaign. He encouraged members to contact Jeff Hops who is coordinating all the volunteer efforts.

President Meadows then proceeded to explain the rules for endorsement of candidates for the Democratic State Committee and began the process. All candidates were asked to address the Stein membership and then members were allowed to ask questions to the candidates. Given the large number of candidates, the endorsement process lasted until about midnight. The results of the endorsement process will be posted on the Stein website.

Upon motion, the Stein Club voted to adjourn the meeting at midnight.
